Shaaban Mashaal (1932–2014) was an Egyptian painter and professor, renowned for his contributions to expressive painting and art education. Born in Dakahlia, he graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo in 1960, later earning a PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1973. A founding member of Egypt’s Syndicate of Plastic Artists, he taught painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts and played a key role in shaping contemporary Egyptian art.

Mashaal held solo exhibitions in Egypt and Italy and participated in numerous group shows locally and internationally. His work was also commissioned for historical documentation, including a major piece on the Denshway Incident. He received a gold medal at the Youth Salon in 1960 and his artworks are held in both private and public collections worldwide, including in major hotels and museums in Egypt.
