Nagat Farouk, an Egyptian visual artist, was born in Cairo in 1963. She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Art Education, specializing in (Visual and Digital Design), with a dissertation titled: “Aesthetic and Symbolic Values in Ancient Egyptian Mythology as an Approach to Developing Shadow Puppetry Designs for Children’s Theatre” – Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University. She is a member of the Syndicate of Plastic Artists, the Society of Fine Arts Lovers, and the Arab Society for Civilization and Islamic Arts. She worked as an Art Teacher in King Abdulaziz Military City, Ministry of Defense and Aviation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 1991 to 2000. She served as Director of Visual Arts at the Cultural Development Fund, Egyptian Ministry of Culture, until 2023.

Nagat has held 11 solo exhibitions in various venues including El Gezira Art Center, Bab Gallery, the Egyptian Museum of Modern Art, El Hanager, and private galleries such as Grant, Cordoba, Kahila, and Odyssey. She has also participated in numerous local and international group exhibitions in the UAE, Greece, Saudi Arabia, the Cairo Salon, the General Exhibition, the Agenda Exhibition at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the Luxor International South Salon. She received certificates of appreciation and recognition for contributing to the course “Modern Methods of Teaching Art Education” aimed at improving the level of Saudi art teachers. She was a member of the Higher Committee for the Cairo International Forum for Arabic Calligraphy and Ornamentation from 2015 to 2023. She is the winner of the Drawing Award at the Ismailia Fine Arts Biennale. She supervised and organized accompanying workshops for the Cairo International Children’s Film Festival (17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 22nd, and 23rd editions). She conducted a workshop at the American University in Cairo titled “She Can” in 2018. She participated in the Nubian Art Retreat in Aswan, organized by the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, Ministry of Culture, in 2019, and the Quseir Art Retreat, Red Sea, in 2022, also under the Ministry of Culture.

She received an Encouragement Award in the International Fujairah Arabic Calligraphy Competition (Al-Hurufiyat), organized by the Fujairah Academy of Fine Arts, UAE. Her artwork was shortlisted for the “Treasure of the Generation Award” by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, UAE. She participated in an art symposium in India and showcased her work in the exhibition there. She was awarded a sabbatical grant for the year 2024 and is scheduled to participate in the Al-Azhar Arabic Calligraphy and Ornamentation Forum in 2025. Her art collections abroad are found in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Copelouzos Family Art Museum – Athens, Greece, and Contemporary Art Project, USA. In Egypt, her artworks are with individuals and governmental institutions such as the Sector of Fine Arts, the General Authority for Culture, and the Suez Canal Authority. Her conceptual framework weaves a fusion of folkloric elements and motifs from ancient Egyptian civilization, embodying the essence and aesthetics of both worlds. Through meticulous research, her work reveals a hidden realm rich in ancient symbols, presented in a rhythm that bridges heritage and contemporary expression.
